Rimmel Brow This Way Brow Sculpting Kit

I must admit I haven't had that much experience with brow products. My usual routine is to shape my prow with a generic brown eyeliner. But that aside I was quite impressed with this little kit! I'm really loving it right now.

It comes with a gel and a powder and both are tinted. After much debate I ended up going for the medium brown and I'm really happy I did. I almost ended up with the dark brown but it just looked too dark. And so the medium matched perfectly.

I do kind of wish that the kit had a ratio of gel to powder that was greater on the gel side. I'm really just using the gel to shape and colour, occasionally using the powder to fill in. But nowhere near as much. Then I just need the brush to be longer and I'm all set! It comes with a double sided angled brush that works perfectly, I just find it hard to handle sometimes because of how short it is. I'll get a better one soon!

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25H Foundation

So the full name of this is the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25H with Comfort Serum Skin Perfecting Full Coverage Foundation. Which basically is everything this product is.

It's full coverage, and I find that it ends up being fairly thick and heavy because if it. You especially don't really want to coat it with anything because even a finishing powder makes it caky. It does do the full coverage job though. And although I haven't had cause to wear it for 25h, nor would I do that to my skin anyways, I have worn it for an entire day. And I must say that at the end of the day it was definitely still there and it was actually really hard to take off. It's very water resistant too.

This is all a bit much for daily wear for me, just because I don't need it. I do use it for special occasions and I also use it to test how well a pore concealer primer works because this foundation will expose any pores unless you either wear a primer or work it in for a very long time.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick (036 Kiss)

I'm pretty sure I picked this up because it was on sale and I wanted to try a Rimmel lipstick. This is a kind of soft shimmery mauve-pink which is not a colour I've owned before. But now I do!

I actually really like the colour of it. It's easy to wear and is more soft than most of my other reds and oranges. It has the smooth texture of a creme lipstick and it covers evenly. It does have a bit of transparency, but not a lot. The colour still comes out strong.

It's lasts for a couple of hours before you have to reapply. And besides that the only thing that bugs me about this lipstick is the smell. It smells exactly like a Lipsmacker I had years ago from a Christmas collection and it was called Sugarplum. When I smelled the Rimmel I knew it was familiar but it took me a few days for me to place it. Anyways, I hated that smell, and therefore this is not really any better. The best way to describe it is like a really sweet grape smell. I can get past that though!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal

I'm really liking this right now! I wasn't sure what to expect since my recent experience with the Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer. But I was pleasantly surprised!

I decided to try 003 brown because I've really been liking the neutral browns and golds on my eyes recently. However this colour label is misleading because it's definitely more of a copper-bronze!  Which I thought was cool, but others might not be up for the surprise.

One of the faults I've found with it is that it's not easy to sharpen the first time round- like it won't go around easily. And after that it will sharpen but not evenly, and the tip has a tendency to break after it's freshly sharpened. It also likes to leave little clumps of product when you apply it to the skin if you go too fast. It's nice to have a soft eyeliner because if it's too hard it doesn't even transfer to the face. But it seems like this one is just a little too soft, which makes not only sharpening and applying a bit hard, but also getting a clean line and a sharp point (for say a cat eye).

I've mostly been using it to tightline my eyes though, and it goes on smoothly there. It stays for a good 4 hours before it wears off. Actually it doesn't really wear off so much as migrate down to my under eye, where I find a constellation of brown and gold flecks at the end of the day!

When using it on my eyelid, it stays put for about the same about of time, longer if I use a good primer. I do tend to set all my eyeliner on my lids with powder because it's rare I find one that doesn't make its way up into my crease before the day has really begun. When I smudged it out it didn't really go well. It will smudge but not without some force, and the brown and gold tend to separate- the brown stays and the gold moves. So it's basically just good for solid lines!

Despite all the little flaws with this product, I bought it to be a brown colour in my waterline and that's exactly what it is (with a little extra shimmer). It's not hard for me to work around the little things, and it basically reflects the price of the product (I got mine for $5 CAD).

Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner

My usual go to eyeliner is L'Oréal Paris infallible and when that ran out the last time I thought I would try something new. The Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer is built the same way, with an extendable and retractable tip and a smudger on the opposite end. It goes on very smoothly which is nice. And the pigment is good too.

The main problem is that it has a very short wear time. Any type of oil or water seems to move it. I usually use this type of eyeliner to tightline my eyes but I tried this on the eyelid as well (with setting powder) to see if it would work better further from the eye. Unfortunately it didn't take long before it was up in the crease.

It might work better for people who have drier skin around the eye, since I do find I get a bit more oil on my eyelids as the day progresses. I also found the smudger just seemed to erase the eyeliner from my skin, which was disappointing.

Products Post: Rimmel Sun Shimmer Maxi Bronzer

I picked this up in a sales bin a few weeks ago, and I'm super happy with it! It comes in a big ol' round case that is maybe not the best for carrying around, but it just feels nice in my hands. And the lid makes that satisfying click when you close it.

I'm already pretty tanned after the summer, but my foundation routine tends to bring my tan down a shade and this is perfect for bringing it back up! I bought the 003 Sun Queen - I could probably go a shade darker and have it be okay. I really like that it goes on light, but one drawback is that it isn't as buildable as I'd like for contouring. And it is a matte shade, even though it says shimmer (not that I mind). Overall really good though!

Products Post: Rimmel Foundation and Concealer

I use my Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation every day and I like it a lot. I have mixed type skin and it just seems to go on nicely everywhere. It's good on its own but a lot of the time I find my self mixing in a bit of my Rimmel Clean Finish Matte foundation to give it a bit more coverage. I use about a 2:1 ratio of WMU to CFM.

I find it hard to use the Clean Finish Matte on its own. Even with primer my pores show up under it and it's just a bit too much on the cakey side. As you can see in the pictures, it's hard to blend in nicely. Again, mixing a bit of this in with the Wake Me Up is perfect!

I have the WMU in 103 True Ivory and the CFM in 240 Soft Beige.

Sometimes I'll use the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer (in 230 Very fair/light) over top to cover spots. I find this concealer's real strength is in being an under eye concealer instead of a spot concealer. It takes me quite a few coats to cover major spots, though minor ones are just fine. It blends really nicely, and of course it works better if I leave a dab of it on the spot before I blend it in.
