Revlon PhotoReady Color Correcting Primer

This was given to me with enough left to try for a little while, so by no means have I used as much as the pictures suggest!

It's on the liquid side of creamy, and has the typical primer side effect of feeling dry after the application. There's a faint rose scent to it, but nothing bothersome.

It claims to be colour correcting and looks slightly tinted. I don't notice any difference to my skin tone when I put it on. If I had a really even skin tone I'm sure it would be all I needed, but I don't.

What I'm looking for in a primer is to keep my foundation in place and to fill in my pores. This is about average as a foundation primer. It sticks around through most of the workday, but not quite til the end.

It does surprisingly well under a heavy foundation. One of the tests of a good primer for me is to see how visible my pores are after application of primer and the Rimmel Lasting Finish, and although this doesn't completely cover them, it does a better job than most.

This product isn't for me, but I would recommend it to someone who doesn't need a lot of coverage and who uses a light foundation. Has anyone found this works well for them? What are your favourite colour correcting primers?

Revlon Colorburst Lip Balms - Matte and Lacquer

I am absolutely loving these right now. More so the coral matte colour, but they're both wonderful.
They are technically a balm, so even though they have the colour intensity of a lipstick, they do hydrate.

And they smell so good! This is one of the things that will always make me love a product more. I was pleasantly surprised to find they smell and taste faintly of sweet peppermint (this may be a turnoff for some).

As I mentioned the colour payoff is really good. I'm basically wearing them as a lipstick. The matte I found to be really long lasting - like eight hours long lasting. And it stays just as long even if I put a lipstick on top, which is great. It's so nice to have a matte colour that doesn't dry out my lips!

The lacquer colour was a little disappointing after that. It's supposed to be super shiny, and if you swatch it on your hand, it will leave sparkles long after the colour is gone.  On the lips it wears like you've layered lipstick and gloss (without the stickiness), which is a nice effect. Unfortunately I found I had to reapply it 2-3 times in and eight hour period. So not nearly as long lasting as its sibling.

The packaging is nice, and you get quite a bit in one package. The silver base twists to push up the product. I find I can apply it without the use of a lip brush, but I'm a little concerned if this will last when the sharp tip disappears. We'll see!

Fall Revlon Nail Colours

These are two colours I've been using a lot for the Fall season! And of course the reds from Revlon are always amazing.

The first is 650 Saucy, and this is a warm red with gorgeous gold shimmer throughout. It just makes me think of the leaves turning colour!

And the 680 Revlon Red is just awesome. It's bright and warm and doesn't have any shimmer or sparkle, just gloss! It's like freshly washed apples - or holly if you're starting to think ahead to Christmas!

Products Post: Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen

So.. my first impression of this was pretty bad. But keep with me here!

I'd been looking for a liquid eyeliner in pen form because I find then pens easier to use, and somehow ended up with this. The first time I used it- great! It went on black and dried quickly. I think I wasn't using it with any other make up the first time either.

The next time I used it, it wouldn't go on worth anything. The colour just wouldn't flow through the end of the pen no matter what I tried! So I stored it upside down and left it alone for a while.

One day when I was just home for a minute and had to freshen up my makeup, I grabbed it to see if it could quickly fix my eyeliner and it worked just fine!

Since then I've discovered that it's perfect for fixing up hours old makeup, or for using on days off when I just want to put on lipstick and a bit of eyeliner to give my skin a rest. But it doesn't work for my normal routine on top of fresh primer and shadow- it seems to just dry up the pen. And like I said, storing it upside down helps too! It's never gotten quite as black as the first time, but it still gives okay lines and a thin point, which works for what I use it for!

Products Post: Revlon Lipstick

There's three red Revlon lipsticks that I keep going back to and I thought I'd share them with you.

Clockwise from back left: 725, 740, 010

1.  Super Lustrous Lipstick Creme 725 Love That Red

This is just such a nice bright lipstick that is fresh enough for summer and festive enough for fall and winter. It also seems to go with any shade of red I'm wearing or contrast a blue or grey. I find it goes on quite nicely and I rarely need to use a liner or a brush to apply. Although it can last me the day I find myself reapplying it once or twice, especially after eating.

2.  Super Lustrous Lipstick Creme 740 Certainly Red

This one is a bit more a true red than the 725 (725 has more of an orange base) but it's still really similar. I reach for it a lot more in the fall and winter, though I do use it in the summer. It has the same wear and application pattern.

3. Colorburst Lipstick 010 Plum

This is definitely a purple red. Of course I use it a lot more in the fall/winter, but I have a certain summery gold shirt that just pops with this lip colour. It has a bit of a sheerness to it and I find the colour looks better and stays better with a liner or a stain underneath. I'm pretty sure this line was turned into something else, since I can't find it on the website (you can still buy it elsewhere online). This makes me so sad because besides being a good colour, the packaging details are just lovely and I'll probably keep the tube once it's gone!
